Punta Gorda is the Charlotte County seat, sitting just across the Peace River north of Cape Coral and tied to our market by the Burnt Store Road corridor. The community is dominated by canal-front housing in Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store Marina, and the older waterfront neighborhoods off Marion Avenue. Pool styles here are very similar to Cape Coral - large share of canal pools, heavy salt chlorine generator use, frequent fiberglass shells from the 1980s and 1990s, and ongoing recovery work from both Hurricane Charley in 2004 and Hurricane Ian in 2022. Our trucks are in Punta Gorda every week.
We install every common pool finish and handle every common pool repair across Punta Gorda neighborhoods:
Punta Gorda has been hit hard twice in two decades. Hurricane Charley made landfall directly on the city in 2004 as a Category 4, and Hurricane Ian battered the same area in September 2022 with sustained Category 4 winds and substantial storm surge along the Peace River. A lot of the pools we resurface in Punta Gorda Isles and the Marion Avenue waterfront have layered repair history from both storms, with some hairline cracks dating to Charley that never quite went away and new Ian-era cracks added on top. We always do a full structural inspection before any new finish goes on a Punta Gorda pool, because skipping the crack repair means the new plaster will telegraph the crack within a year.
Canal-front Punta Gorda pools also require careful drain planning. The Peace River and the canal system push hydrostatic pressure that can lift a drained pool shell if the relief plug fails. We pull the plug, run a dewatering pump for the entire drain, and monitor the shell continuously, especially in the rainy season.
